Statement of Intent- First draft

The narrative concept of my video will be a girl and boy gradually drifting apart in their relationship. They are not as close and they show no physical affection. Eventually they end their relationship because the girl does not have feelings for him. The girl is the main character and following her breakup, she gains more confidence in herself. Later on the girl becomes increasingly close with another girl and they flirt a lot until they eventually end up falling in love. The performative element will be the second love interest from later on in the video lip-syncing the lyrics in a close up camera shot, as they are a key element of pop music videos. The settings for the narrative section will include Neal’s Yard and Portabello Road as these places are bright and romantic looking and the performative section will be filmed in the Painted Gallery, as it appears confident and empowering. The social representations in my video will include boy and girl as well as gay and straight. This will attract my target audience as the video will be aesthetically pleasing in these settings and love songs and videos attract a young teenage mainstream audience. In addition, the bright bold backgrounds and costumes are key elements in a mainstream pop music video.  The brand will be clear through the logo on colours in the video. The singer’s logo will appear at the start of the video during the introduction of the song to clarify the brand straight away.
