Story Plan

Story Plan

Section 1:It begins with a boy and girl watching a film together on a sofa but they’re a metre apart. The audience is shown that they are watching Legally Blonde. They get into bed and once again lie far apart and it is clear they are uncomfortable around each other. The next day they sit in the kitchen drinking tea and there is speech at the bottom of their break up. It begins to look like a comic with the text and makeup. The lyric ‘I go to bed feeling bad that I’m the reason that you’re sad’ is lip-synced as part of the break up

Section 2:The girl, now single, begins a transformation into the look of Elle Woods from Legally Blonde. She is now wearing all pink. She looks happier and does her makeup to look bold and comic book like. The lyrics ‘Love will never be forever, feelings are just like the weather. January to December, do you want to be a member?’ is lip-synced by the artist in the Painted Gallery.

Section 3:The girl is walking around Neal’s Park in her new look. She looks happy and sits in the bright scenery drinking a bright fun drink compared to her bland mug of tea. She looks around her at the scenery.

Section 4:It goes back and forth between the artist singing the line ‘Somebody like me’ in the Painted Gallery and Neal’s Yard showing that she is in the narrative world. They sit near each other in a café and smile at each other and start talking. They exchange phone numbers.

Section 5:The girls walk around London holding hands and smiling and laughing. They walk across Abbey Road (The Beatles intertextuality) and Portobello Road. The artist sings parts of the chorus in the painted gallery. The final shot is a close up of the two girls with the main girl’s head on the artist’s shoulder as the artist sings the final line.
